26.03.2022, 09.00 – 17.00 GMT
Quinta Ten Chi, Sintra
Social Presencing Theater is a social art method created that enables individuals and groups to experience their current reality more clearly and to allow them to move into a saner, more compassionate future.
In an atmosphere characterized by mindfulness, exercises in movement and stillness are performed individually and together. Simple gestures and movements are used. In this way we refine self-awareness and awareness of the social field. We explore the quality of our attention in shaping the interpersonal relational space. This ability to “be present” can be used for both individual and social change processes.
Social Presencing Theater (SPT) is not “theater” in the usual sense. It makes visible what is already there in the „social body“. It brings to the surface a clearer sense of the relationships, hidden dynamics, and emerging possibilities inherent in a team, organization or larger system.
Workshop participants will practice basic movement forms in to synchronize mind and body and to engage in co-creative processes with the “social body.” By using nonverbal practices to inquire situations in one’s personal and organizational life, surprising insights and possibilities can arise.
This workshop provides an introduction to some basic practices of Social Presencing Theater (20 Min Dance, Village, Duetts, Field Dance, Stuck). According to participants interests and needs.
For whom is the workshop suitable?
It is designed for educators, consultants, facilitators, activists who want to expand their abilities to perceive and understand better dynamics in the social field. Helpful in all professions that work with individuals and with groups. And anyone who interested in embodiment, creativity and social change.
You will learn to:
- Increase your embodied presence
- Access direct knowing of self and the social field through the senses
- Develop your inner condition as a practitioner and refine your skills for sensing and compassionate observing of social systems
- Discover non verbal practices that help individuals and collectives be more aware of themselves, allow surprising insights and connect to emerging possibilities
Who developed it? Theory U + Social Presencing Theater
Social Presencing Theater is an innovative social technique and was developed by Otto Scharmer and Arawana Hayashi in the framework of the change management approach called Theory U at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Presencing Institute in Boston.
This workshop is open to everyone and no prior experience in Theory U or in movement are necessary. Participants may find it helpful to have some familiarity with the Theory U model. An overview can be found on the Presencing website www.presencing.com
We habe been practicing for several years enthusiastically SPT and have participated in the 1-year SPT Advance Training Program with Arawana Hayashi and Team and in various Trainings of Theory U of the Presencing Institute.
Rita Venturini, is the shepherd of the Ten Chi, trained in diffrent embodiment methods and traditions and offering regulary workshops with different topics.
